About Graffight

Graffight Apparel is a mainstream lifestyle apparel company with a strong base in the Mixed Martial Arts Community. Started in January 2008 by Gary Ibarra, a freelance graphic designer and avid MMA fan, Graffight has slowly but surely surfaced as an up and coming brand name in the mixed martial arts community, mainly because the ideal that their original brand of MMA Lifestyle Apparel is based on.  The mission that Graffight has chosen to embrace was concieved and developed specifically with the goal of creating something completely different than what the public believes MMA apparel to be. There are no designs rife with blood, skulls, dragons, medieval references, violence laced slogans or Gothic based fonts or type treatments, these are all icons that represent a stereotype that they believe was perpetuated incorrectly.

Mixed Martial Arts is not a sport full of barbarians eager to savagely pummel each other to the screams of blood thirsty fans, what it truly is in its purest form is the ultimate test of not just strength, but strategy, athleticism, determination, and heart, an arena where the sacrifice of seemingly endless training and pure forged will are rewarded with victory and the knowledge that in a test of not just strength of body, but strength of mind, you were the victor. That is the idea that Graffight was founded on, because that is what mixed martial arts truly is. This line is an attempt to make those truths about MMA the truths that people immediately associate with it. In order to do that you need to change peoples perception of the Mixed Martial Artist and their fans . This Lifestyle Apparel Company believes the best way to accomplish that goal is to change what the public sees. As people, our perception begins with our first look and to most people perception is reality. We know what people think when they see medieval warriors, swords, spears, hooded skeletons, blood spatter and other Gothic Iconography or slogans that celebrate the violence people already know exists in the sport.

Graffights goal is to change that perception with its art based and visually stimulating themes and designs as well as its emphasis on artistic freedom, integrity and representations of the true spirit of MMA.

  1. I like the sound of this. I’ve never gotten in the whole goth mma thing.
Reversal are my biggest inspiration, have you checked them out? A few skulls in there but some seriously high level design stuff…

  2. I love the idea of non-gothic mma gear. I’m a father of two young kids and a huge MMA fan. I plan on teaching them the difference between combat sports and the way one acts outside of the sporting arena. I have never been into skulls or blood spatter designs, so I am looking fwd to seeing your gear.

  3. Lovely post. Please add my email address to your list and email me the updates if possible. I always like to read your blog and comment on it.
